WHAT THIS PACKAGE DOES
This package updates the following Intel Active Management Technology (AMT)
software.
- Management Engine Firmware
Refer to marketing materials to find out what computer models support Intel
AMT.
Updating the software will fix problems, add new functions, or expand
functions as noted below.
This program is language dependent and can be used with any language system.

DETERMINING WHICH VERSION IS INSTALLED
1. Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
2. Refer to the Manual Update section, and download and extract the file.
3. Open a Command Prompt with the following steps.
[Windows 7]
1. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
2. Right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.
3. Click Yes.
[Windows XP]
1. Click Start, and click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
2. Click Command Prompt.
4. In the Command Prompt, type the following command and press Enter.
[Path where the files were extracted]MEInfoWin.exe
Example: C:DRIVERSWINMEMEInfoWin.exe

5. Note FW Version, and refer to the Version Information section to check the
installed version.
If you see any errors, check Device Manager to see if the following device
exists.
In the System devices category,
Intel(R) Management Engine Interface
If not exists, install the following software:
Intel Management Engine Interface 8.0 and Serial Over LAN (SOL) Driver

NOTES
- Updating ME firmware while Microsoft BitLocker drive encryption is enabled
will cause subsequent boots of the encrypted drive to fail.
If you are using BitLocker, please refer to BitLocker help for information on
how to temporarily disable BitLocker before updating your ME firmware.

UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS
Notes:
- If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update
the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the
Version Information section.
- You may need to confirm with your IT administrator if you need to update
Management Engine Firmware.
- Before updating Management Engine Firmware, make sure to connect an AC
power and fully charged battery pack to your system.
- You cannot down grade Management Engine Firmware version to any older version.
Manual Update
This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.
Downloading file
1. Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up
windows will appear.
2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
3. In the window to choose Run or Save, click Save.
4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click Save.
A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete.
Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating
that the download completed successfully.
Extracting file
5. Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
6. Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
7. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
8. Follow the instructions on the screen.
9. In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. If you would like to
select a different folder, click Browse.
10. In the Ready to Install window, click Install. All the necessary files will
be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.
Installing files
11. Open a Command Prompt with the following steps.
[Windows 7]
1. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
2. Right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.
3. Click Yes.
[Windows XP]
1. Click Start, and click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
2. Click Command Prompt.
12. In the Command Prompt, type the following command and press Enter.
[Path where the files were extracted]MEUPDATE.CMD
Example: C:DRIVERSWINMEMEUPDATE.CMD
13. Read the warning on the display, and press Y or N.
If you press Y, ME updating will progress.
14. Read the notice on the display, and press Enter.
Wait for about 3 minutes until the message "Update finished successfully"
is displayed.
15. Close the Command Prompt window, and then shut down the computer.
Finally delete the file saved in the step 4.
